Motivational speaker and author, Les Brown, said: “The way to achieve is to blossom where you are planted, to do what you can, where you are, with what you have.”

Going by Brown’s principle, great accomplishment can be recorded when you employ his three-pronged strategy. This strategy can be split into three as follows:

1. What You Can

Life coach and author of the bestselling book, “Coach: The A.L. Williams Story,” Art L. Williams, said: “What you can do is all you can do.” This means if you want to achieve great success, don’t waste your time struggling to copy what others are doing. Instead, put all your effort, your soul, spirit and body on WHAT YOU CAN DO BEST. It is what you can do that will elevate you to greater height.

 

 One of the reasons some people sink into mediocrity is that they spend their life imitating others rather than concentrate on what they can do best. The fact is, no matter how hard you try, you can never become exactly like the person you are copying.

In the first place, the person you are copying is focusing his energy and whole being doing what he knows best to do. You may not be so gifted in doing what he is doing. In the second place, even if you are gifted in doing what he is doing and you don’t do it in a manner that you know best to do, but you spend a whole lot of time copying him, you can never be exactly like him.

At best, you can only become second rate. And this is not good enough. You don’t have to be a carbon copy of another person when you are created to be original. Leadership coach and prolific author, John Mason, said: “Imitation is limitation.” If you are imitating others, you are limiting your capability. You may be better than the person you are imitating, but because you fail to be yourself and instead spend your life imitating the person, you plunge into mediocrity.

 

God does not create you to become a carbon copy of another person. That is why He gave you unique talents and abilities. God expects you to be original, to be yourself and to be unique. That is why you can never be exactly like another person, no matter how hard you try. Imitation is suicide. Trying to be like another person can be frustrating. Imitation stems from ignorance. Ignorance in the sense that if you realise the enormous potentials God deposited within you, there will be no reason to imitate another person.

THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN EXCEL AND DO GREAT EXPLOITS IS TO BE YOURSELF, TO BE ORIGINAL AND TO HARNESS YOUR ENERGY DOING ONLY WHAT YOU KNOW BEST. 2. Where You Are

There is a parlance among Nigerians which says: “What you are looking for in Sokoto (a city in Northern Nigeria) is in your shokoto (a Yoruba name for trouser).” Where you are this very moment is the proper place to begin your journey to success. Your location, region, country or continent does not matter. The proper place to begin is right where you are this moment. Don’t wait until you get to the city or foreign land before you begin.

You have to start from where you are. A Chinese proverb says: “A journey of a thousand miles begin with a step.” Our professional soccer players making waves in Europe and other parts of the world today didn’t get to where they are overnight. They started right here in Nigeria. They played actively in Nigerian Pro-league before they left for overseas. Mention any Nigerian professional footballer playing in foreign land and find out where he started.

The chances are, he had played in the home league before he got an offer to play abroad. Why do you think you must get to a particular place before you begin? If you don’t begin where you are, how would you be noticed? You have to be faithful with what you have right where you are before you can be entrusted with greater opportunities. A German proverb says: “GROW WHERE YOU ARE PLANTED, BEGIN TO WEAVE AND GOD WILL GIVE YOU THE THREAD.”

The problem with us is that we want God to give us the thread (take us to greater height) before we start weaving (doing the best we can). That is like putting the cart before the horse. It doesn’t work that way. You must grow where you are planted and start weaving, that is to say, you must do the best you can with what you have right where you are this very moment.

Promotion comes from God and for Him to promote you, you must not be lazy. God does not bless an idle hand. To attract God’s promotion, prove to Him that you are serious, committed and you passionately desire to be at the top. START SOMETHING WHERE YOU ARE NOW AND GROW IN IT FIRST. When God sees the effort you are putting in and the progress you are making, He will be committed to elevate you. God must find you doing something WHERE YOU ARE before He blesses the work of your hand.

If you are not doing anything right WHERE YOU ARE, don’t expect God to elevate you. WHERE YOU ARE right now is very important because that is the proper place to begin your climb to greater height. IF YOU WANT PROMOTION, DO WHAT YOU CAN, RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE.

3. What You Have 

What is important to God and to your destiny is what you have. A bird in hand is worth, not just two in the bush, but a million in the bush. In God’s programme of prosperity, it is what you have that He uses to bless you. All Jesus needed to feed 5,000 people were five loaves of bread and two fishes. All Elijah needed to pull down God’s prosperity on the widow of Zarephath was “a handful of meal in a barrel and a little oil in a cruise.” All Elisha needed to help a wife of a late prophet clear her debt was a pot of oil.

You need to value what you have. If you don’t value what you have, you are disregarding an opportunity for greatness. If you have been despising the little that you have, you need to desist from doing so, because the very thing you have, however little it may be, is what God will use to bless you. Little is much when God is involved.

 Dear friend, as you do the best you can, where you are and with what you have at your disposal, it is my hope and prayer that you will soon move from where you are to the greater height you always desire to reach.

Tap into the Law of Greatness: Get up and Try Again! (2)

Every second, every minute, every hour of your life is an opportunity to fulfill your destiny. If you are going to be victorious in life, you need to constantly remind yourself that victory will not come to you on a platter of gold.

To be victorious in life, you must be ready to fight your way through. This has been the path of victors. Every victor knows that without getting up to fight, victory will remain a mirage.

The world is filled with people who will never get up to try. The world is also filled with people who have tried once or a few times and who have given up. They gave up not because they don’t have what it takes to fulfill their destiny; they gave up because they got disappointed that after putting in their best, they still failed. They allow feeling of discouragement to rob them of the benefit of getting up to try again.

Dear friend, there may come a time when you will feel discouraged because your efforts have not made any difference. At such a time, what you must do to free yourself from this feeling of frustration is to remind yourself that QUITTING IS NOT THE SOLUTION. THE SOLUTION IS TO KEEP TRYING UNTIL YOU SUCCEED.



The fact is, your success is guaranteed, but you don’t know you when success will become. And since you don’t know when success will come, you will have to keep trying until you succeed. TO REFUSE TO TRY IS AN ABUSE OF DESTINY. THE ONLY WAY TO WALK OUT OF FAILURE AND DEFEAT IS TO GET UP AND TRY AGAIN. No matter how discouraged you are, remind yourself that IT IS AN ABUSE OF DESTINY TO GIVE UP. QUITTERS NEVER WIN AND WINNERS NEVER QUIT.

If you are at the verge of quitting or you have quit already, the clarion call today is: GET UP AND TRY AGAIN. Success is around the corner. You are closer to success than you think. The more you fail, the closer you are to success. And the closer you are to success, the more determined you should become.



The Bible says: “The righteous man falls seven times and rises up again.” There is no big deal about falling, failing or losing. Any person can fall, fail and lose anytime. The big deal is getting up each time you fall, fail and lose. There is need to shift your focus from the number of times you have failed to the willingness to get up and try each time you fail.

Don’t be afraid to fail. Be ready to fail many times, be ready to get up each time you fail. The path to fulfillment of destiny is perseverance. The difference between a super achiever and an under achiever is the willingness to persevere. The super achiever is willing to persevere until he achieves his set goal. He is neither bordered nor discouraged by the number of times he tried and failed. He is willing to get up and try again.

This is what it means to tap into the law of greatness. You have to make up your mind today that you will never stop trying until succeed. Until I come your way soon, go and live victoriously!

Tap into the Law of Greatness - Start Where You Are!

Dear friend, welcome to part 1 of the above captioned. You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great. One big mistake we make is that we want to become great before we start to talk about prosperity. The fact is, you cannot keep thinking and talking about poverty and hope to succeed one day. It is not when you become rich that you can start talking and preaching prosperity. 


It is what you talk and preach about that will take you to greater height.

If you are not visiting this blog for the first time, you will notice that what we talk and deliberate upon always is victory, success, prosperity and abundance. We don’t focus and talk about poverty because we don’t want it.

Do you want poverty? If you don’t want poverty, then, stop focusing your mind on poverty and talking about it, because what you keep focusing on and talking about is what you are or what you will become.

The time to begin your climb to greatness is NOW. Right where you are, with what you have and with sheer determination, you can begin your climb to stardom. There is a book I have read and keep reading because of the inspiration I get from it. This book is titled, “Walking in Financial Freedom.” The author is Engineer (pastor) Samson Makinwa, founder of Kingdom of Light Ministries, Lagos, Nigeria.

In his book, the engineer/pastor narrates how he started his engineering company with only N600 and grew it to a multi-million-naira enterprise. Also in an interview he granted to Success Digest!, an entrepreneurship publication of Sunny Ojeagbase, he said he was inspired while studying Mechanical Engineering in an Indian University by an Indian engineer who started his engineering company with nothing and made it big.

All that his book kept emphasizing is that you can start from where you are and with what you have and achieve great success in life. You need not have enough to start. You can start with the little you have and grow gradually and steadily until you attain great height.

Dear reader, the road to financial freedom begins from where you are and with the little that you have. You don’t need to wait for things to improve before you start. Remember: “HE THAT OBSERVETH THE WIND SHALL NOT SOW; AND HE THAT REGARDETH THE CLOUDS SHALL NOT REAP” (Eccl. 11:4).

From the angle of faith and from practical experience in his own life, Pastor Makinwa is saying that we can achieve financial freedom, but the question we must answer is: are we willing to start from where we are and with what we have? 

We don’t need all the money because we can always start with what we have. If we don’t have any money, we can start with ideas. Ideas bring money. Think of legitimate job you can do to generate cash that you can launch out with.

The Structure for Increase

The starting point for increase (prosperity) is having a structure on ground, a structure upon which increase is established. God is set to bring increase if we are willing to put a structure on ground. God has already blessed the hand of everyone He has created, but what He expects us to do to have increase is it to put our blessed hands to work. We have to start with something. Let us think of any legitimate job or business we can do to generate cash. This is the starting point. This is what God of Increase requires of us before He can bring the increase.

Don’t wait for big opportunities; grab the little opportunity you can find around you. Those little opportunities around you that you are ignoring could be the very opportunities God is expecting you to grab hold of for your rise to stardom.

Remember: YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE GREAT TO START; BUT YOU HAVE TO START TO BE GREAT. There are many little things you can do to start making progress in life. You have to be humble enough before you can recognise great possibility in the little opportunities around you.  An old man once advised his grandson thus: “WHAT YOU IGNORE AND TREAT WITH LEVITY IS WHAT YOUR CONTEMPORARIES ARE USING TO SURPASS YOU.”

Dear friend, if you feel you are too big to start from where you are and with what you have, then, you may be far from the ladder to stardom. Remember that nobody starts from the top. The super successful people today did not become what they are today overnight. If you care to listen, you will discover that they start from the bottom. Some of them started from circumstances that are far worse than your present circumstance. You may not want to believe it, but that is the truth

Enough of the preaching! It’s time to get into real business. Manna may never fall from heaven for you to pick, buy you are guaranteed increase if you put your hands to work. The Bible says: “HE THAT TILLETH HIS LAND SHALL HAVE PLENTY.” Find a parcel of land and begin to till it today. You can never dream of abundance until you do.
