How Impatience Can Ruin a Destiny

Recently, a radio preacher, while preaching on radio, narrated the story of a man who drove cars for a young family for nearly two decades. He was very committed to his job. The couple loved him because he was committed, serious and obedient. He was faultless.

Seeing that the man was aging, the couple prepared a great retirement package for him. They bought a brand-new car and arranged for a driver that would be using the car to generate income for him. They also packaged several millions of naira for him.

On the day the couple wanted to retire him and offer him those benefits, he did not come to work on time to wash the cars and perform his other duties.
When he was confronted by the family man, he retorted: “You should not talk to me like that. You are not up to my own biological son.”

The husband and wife were dazed and shocked by the old man’s unusual, unexpected, sudden outburst of anger. They had no choice than to withhold the benefits they wanted to give to him and did away with his services. What a tragedy! What an unfortunate incident!

For nearly two decades, this man was in active service for his employers. He was faithful, he was obedient. He did his job faultlessly. His employers appreciated his good works and loyalty. For this reason, they packaged for him fantastic retirement benefits that will enable him to enjoy his life after retirement. But on the very day these retirement benefits were to be delivered to him, he destroyed his destiny by his impatience when he verbally insulted his employers.

There is a Chinese proverb which says: “A MOMENT OF PATIENCE CAN PREVENT A GREAT DISASTER AND A MOMENT OF IMPATIENCE CAN CHANGE A DESTINY.”

Dear reader, if you are going to enjoy life to the fullest, one destiny killer you must avoid is impatience. THE PATIENT DOG, THEY SAY, EATS THE FATTEST BONE. Nothing should make you impatient in life. There is no hurry in life. Take note that no matter how much in haste you are, no matter fast you are, no matter how anxious you are, you may not get what you want at the particular time you want it. Good things don’t come easy and they don’t come when you want them to come.

More often than not, good things come when we are at the verge of giving up. They come when we least expect it. They come when we are almost giving up hope.

Dear reader, will you allow impatience to ruin your destiny? Will you allow anger, sadness and depression to hold you back from enjoying the package God has prepared for you?

Please, learn from the aged driver’s story in this article and never allow impatience to destroy your destiny.

Until I come your way soon, go and live victoriously!
