Unbelief: the Bane of the Loser!

The problem is not that you cannot achieve your goal in life, the problem is that you are skeptical of your ability to make it or of what the future holds for you.
Many a time, we behave like a person who takes up arms, enlist himself in the camp of his enemies and wages war against himself. Although this may sound funny, in reality, this is what we do to ourselves by reason of our unbelief. It is worse as that!
I am sure you will agree with me that we all want to succeed in life and to some extent, we may even be making some effort towards achieving our goals. But at a stage, when it appears that we are not making any headway in spite of our efforts, we begin to doubt whether we will succeed in the end.
Power of Unbelief
Unbelief is as powerful as belief. It all depends on the one you allow to dominate your mind. If you allow unbelief to dominate your mind, it will shut down your brain, your abilities and potentials. When you begin to doubt your ability to succeed in life you will lose hope in life and you will not even be motivated to work towards achieving your goals.
Unbelief can be likened to the OFF button of a computer. When a computer is in full operation and you press the OFF button, it practically shuts down the computer system.
The shutting down of a computer is similar to what happens to a man who is working towards achieving his heart’s desires but gives up because of unbelief. Unbelief stifles your hope, makes you despondent, paralyses and forces you to quit. No matter how far you have gone and how close you are to success, if you allow unbelief to dominate your mind, it will shut down your brain and forces you to quit.
The bane of losers is unbelief. The Bible says: “if ye will not believe, ye will not prosper.” Anytime you feel like giving up in your pursuit of success, it could be that you have allowed unbelief to dominate your mind.
Unbelief Repels Prosperity
Belief is a magnet that attracts prosperity. The Bible says: “Believe in God and in His prophet and ye shall prosper.” Jesus equally said: “If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth” (Mark 9:29).
Unbelief, on the other hand, is the opposite of belief. Unbelief repels prosperity and keeps people in perpetual bondage of poverty. Prolific author, William Shakespeare, once said: “Our doubts are traitors and make us to lose what we oft’ might gain by fearing to attempt.”

One vivid illustration that describes how unbelief repels success is recorded in the Bible. At a particular period in the history of Israeli nation, there was severe famine, so severe that a woman in a reciprocal agreement with another woman, boiled her child and both of them ate the child. As the famine grew from bad to worse, a man of God by name Elisha declared publicly that in the next 24 hours, there would be surplus foodstuffs so much so that people would buy them cheaply.
A top functionary in the employment of the king of Israel who heard the prophecy of Elisha doubted: “Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be?” (2 Kings 7:2a).
The worst form of unbelief is the one which doubt the power of God to do ALL things. And when you have this form of unbelief, what you get always is the worst. In response to the man’s unbelief, Elisha, the man of God, prophesied against him: “Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.” (2 Kings 7:2b).

And it happened to the man exactly what Elisha declared: “And the king appointed the lord on whose hand he leaned to have the charge of the gate: and the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died, as the man of God had said, who spake when the king came down to him. And it came to pass as the man of God had spoken to the king, saying, Two measures of barley for a shekel, and a measure of fine flour for a shekel, shall be to morrow about this time in the gate of Samaria:  And that lord answered the man of God, and said, Now, behold, if the LORD should make windows in heaven, might such a thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof. And so it fell out unto him: for the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died.” (2 Kings 7:17-20).
Dear reader, what is it that you allow to dominate your mind? You may not pay much attention to what you allow to dominate your mind until you begin to watch your life go the way of what is in your mind.
How to Whittle Down Unbelief and Increase Your Faith for Victory
As a result of many negative things happening to us and around us, it is very easy to allow unbelief to dominate our  mind. But one way to whittle it down is to fill our mind with faith thoughts.
Read the Bible regularly. Read motivational books regularly. Visit this blog regularly and read our articles herein. Memorise and affirm faith-based bible verses and positive expressions that you find in the Bible, in motivational books and other publications.
The more positive affirmations you store in your mind, the more you crowd out unbelief that would try to gain entry into your mind. When your mind is dominated by positive thoughts and faith thoughts, you whittle down unbelief and increase your faith for victory.
Keep memorizing and affirming positive thoughts daily and your faith will grow bigger than your unbelief. When your faith becomes bigger than unbelief, unbelief will have no place in your mind and it will dwindle to a vanishing point.
And then, you will be empowered never to quit but to keep trying until you succeed. Remember: WINNERS NEVER QUIT AND QUITTERS NEVER WIN.
You can be victorious today if you choose to grow your faith bigger than your unbelief. Until I come your way soon, go and live victoriously!

Cultivate the Mentality of a Champion: 8 Lessons from Donald Trump

Donald Trump

Real estate magnate, Donald Trump, means many things to many people. One key factor that distinguishes him and makes him stand out from the crowd is his boldness to express his thoughts, feelings and action without caring whose ox is gored.

Presently, Trump is a very hot contender for the US presidential ticket under the umbrella of the Republican Party. Far from his speeches which make him controversial, Trump is one man who loves sharing the secret of his success in life and in business .

Trump's Books

• Crippled America
 • Time to Get Tough
• The Art of the Deal
• The Art of the Comeback
• The America We Deserve
 • The Trump Card: Playing to Win in Work and Life by Ivanka Trump

• The Best Real Estate Advice I Ever Received
• Think Big and Kiss the Ass
• Never Give Up
• Midas Touch
• Why we want You to Be Rich
• Think Like a Champion

In his book, Think Like a Champion, Trump assembled loads of success tips anyone can use to win in the game of life. Out of these success tips, I have selected eight lessons we can apply to achieve great success in life. Read the tips below and begin to apply them now:

1. Take the Turn

The road to success is not always straight from the beginning to the end. There are bends in the road. On the journey to success, many people reach the bends in the road and do not want to take the turn. They get discouraged because they realize that the bend is not an end and that the journey still continues.

But Trump is saying: “THE BEND IN THE ROAD IS NOT THE END OF THE ROAD UNLESS YOU REFUSE TO TAKE THE TURN.” Taking the turn at each bend until you get to the end of the road is what makes you a champion.

 2. Be Self Motivated

“The best achievers,” says Donald Trump, “are those who are self motivated, who are naturally curious and who don’t need to be told what to do next.” The importance of self motivation cannot be over emphasized. The slogan of this blog is: “Motivation is like fuel that powers your car…..when it runs low, top it up here!”

Just as the car cannot move without fuel, we cannot be gingered to strive for success without motivation. You don’t need to wait for someone to motivate you; motivate yourself. Get excited, get passionate, get serious about what you want to achieve and start doing something however little to achieve it.

3. Empower Yourself with Knowledge

Knowledge, they say, is power. In this information age, knowledge is what you need to excel. The more knowledge you acquire, the brighter your chances of success. While emphasizing the importance of acquisition of knowledge, Trump said: “I may be successful already, but I learn something new every day.”

It is really pathetic that in spite of the information glut online and offline today, we starve ourselves by failing, refusing and neglecting to access these information all around us. Empower yourself today by learning something new every day.

 4. Don’t Sell Yourself Short

The difference between a champion and a loser is not necessarily the ability but mentality. A champion is one who has a high self esteem. He believes he can win in any game of life. But a loser is one who has a low self esteem. He doubts if he can make it in life. He has not given it a try yet, but he concludes that the task is impossible.

Champion don’t sell themselves short, rather, they build their self esteem by believing that they can achieve anything they set out to achieve. If you want to be a champion, don’t sell yourself short. Cultivate the mentality of a champion by believing that you are victorious in the game of life.

5. Know When to Be Patient and When to Move on

As Trump puts it, “Sometimes we have to be patient and sometimes we have to get moving. Wisdom is knowing which time is which and when to do that.”

It helps a lot if you find out early what you want to settle down with. It is possible to be passionate about many things and getting yourself committed to them, but it is not easy to excel in them. And even if it is easy to excel in them, it is not possible to be fully engaged in them at the same time.

So, it is important that you do a self assessment to know whether what you are putting your energy into will bring you fulfillment and success. If what you are doing will bring you fulfillment and success, keep putting in your best and exercise patience if it appears you are not making meaningful progress.

CFVLSMS (Super)

But if on the other hand you discover that what you are doing will not bring you the fulfillment and success you desire, all you need do is to move on. Don’t get stuck in the rut. Don’t allow grass to grow under your feet. Patience is only a virtue when you are on the right track, but, it becomes a vice when you are on the wrong track. Try to know early when to be patient and when to move on.

6. Plan Your Way to Success

Success is a function of planning and execution. As Trump puts it, “Carefully planning your way to success is a sure way to achieve your goals and that approach should never be underestimated. Just remember that you need to be patient and persevering and to know that there can be delays and detours along the way. I’ve waited twenty years to see some things happen, but it was worth the wait and I had to change course a few times until the pieces finally fell into place. Destiny has a part to play in your life and in your business - so give it a chance to work.”

7. Cut Your Losses Quickly

One of the success secrets of Trump is his risk taking ability. He is never afraid of taking risk. It is on record that what makes him super successful in real estate business is that he always bought properties which others considered risky. This has caused him great loss on some occasion, but on many occasion, his risk taking ability had brought him mega success.

Though a master risk taker, Trump is saying that we should avoid taking blind risks. If we happen to take a risk that is already bringing us loss, all we need do is: CUT THE LOSSES QUICKLY TO AVOID HUGE LOSS.

 8. Work, Work, Work!

The price you will pay to achieve great success is hard work. You can never get to the top and remain there without hard work. Anyone who gets to the top without hard work may crash in a short time because he needs to be hard working to remain on the top. And since he is not used to hard work, instead of remaining at the top, he will fall down to square one.

Trump, while stressing the importance of hard work, quoted Michelangelo, the world acclaimed genius, who said: “IF PEOPLE ONLY KNEW HOW HARD I WORK TO GAIN MY MASTERY, IT WOULDN’T SEEM SO WONDERFUL AT ALL.”

Dear friend, what it takes to be a champion in the game of life is to cultivate the mentality of a champion. The way to cultivate the mentality of a champion is to practice the eight lessons you have just read above.

And as you practice these lessons, it is my hope that you will start winning every battle that confronts you.

Until I come your way soon, go and live victoriously!

Keeping Your Dream: 5 Lessons from a Great Achiever

Dear reader, welcome to another moment of inspiration and motivation. What are those things you desperately want to achieve? What is it you passionately want to become?
The fact is, you can achieve anything you desperately want to achieve, if you keep the dream with you. If you are willing to keep the dream with you, you will eventually achieve it, no matter how long it will take.
One success story that powerfully buttresses the power of keeping your dream is that of Monty Roberts. As narrated by Jack Canfield, America’s number one success coach, in his bestselling book, How to Get from Where You Are to  Where You Want to Be, when Roberts was in high school, his teacher gave the class an assignment to write about what they wanted to do when they grew up. Roberts wrote that he wanted to own his own 200-acre ranch and raise thoroughbred horses. His teacher gave him an “F” and explained that the grade reflected that he deemed his dream as unrealistic.
The belief of his teacher was that nobody in the calibre of Roberts living in a camper on the back of a pick-up truck would ever be able to amass enough money to buy a ranch, purchase breeding stock and pay salaries of ranch workers.
Well, Roberts’ teacher gave him another opportunity to rewrite his paper and get a higher grade, but Roberts replied, “You keep the F; I am keeping my dream.”
Roberts refused to rewrite his paper, but finished high school and went on to own his own 154-acre ranch, which he called, Flag Is Up Farms, in Solvang, California, USA.
There in his ranch, he raises thoroughbred horses and trains hundreds of horse trainers in a more humane way to join him to train horses.
Dear reader, there are many lessons to learn from the success story of Monty Roberts, but here are five  lessons I have distilled which I believe will be invaluable to every success seeker. The lessons  are:
1.   Dream Big
Big dreams have one thing in common – they look unrealistic, they appear impossible. When Marconi was struggling to invent the radio, people laughed at him and tried the best they could to discourage him because they thought it was impossible for any person to discover a way of transmitting messages over a long distance through the ether. Marconi’s friends even planned to take him to a psychiatrist thinking that he had gone insane, for insisting and  believing that he could invent the radio -  something that appear unrealistic and impossible at that time.
When Professor Graham Bell was busy doing the best he could to invent the telephone, people laughed him to scorn because they thought it was unrealistic and impossible to come up with an invention that enabled persons to communicate with each other regardless of the distance between them.
The fact is, every worthwhile goal looks unrealistic, but you should not let that scare you. IF YOU CAN DREAM IT, YOU CAN ACHIEVE IT. Your passion, your desire, your yearning for achieving your dream is a prophecy or a pointer to what you are capable of achieving.
Begin to dream big dream now and hold unto your belief that you can achieve it even when no believes you can.
HOW TO BE SELF EMPLOYED VOL. 1 (White & Blue)

   2.   Don’t Allow Any Person  to Write  You Off
The fact about big dream is that they are no respecter of persons. Big dreams are not the exclusive preserve of a privilege few. Dreams have nothing to do with your background. Where you are and what you are today do not determine what you will become in future.
The mistake of Roberts’ teacher was that he used Roberts’ background to write him off. He thought it was impossible for any person from such a humble background as that of Roberts to achieve massive success, but he was wrong. Roberts proved him wrong.
The lesson here is: NEVER ALLOW ANY PERSON TO WRITE YOU OFF. Never allow other people’s negative opinion about you to hurt you or discourage you. Let others keep their evaluation about you, but you keep your dream.
3.   Don’t Write Yourself Off
The starting point to achieving great success in life is believing that you can achieve whatever goal you set for yourself. The fact is, you can succeed if no one believes in you, but if you don’t believe you can succeed, you will not succeed even if every person believes you can.
Like Marconi and Bell, your belief is what counts. Your belief is what keeps you working tirelessly towards achieving your dream. NEVER WRITE YOURSELF OFF. Regardless of the situation, regardless of how many times you have ried and failed, you can still make it. As long as you are still alive, all things are possible. We live in a world of possibility and when you believe you can make it, you will surely find a way of making it.
4.   Hold Unto Your Dream
Some of our dreams will remain unfulfilled not because we cannot achieve them but because we let go of them. To achieve our dream, we must hold unto it, not some of the time but all the time.
Often, we allow challenges to make us give up our dreams. When we don’t seem to make meaningful progress, we get discouraged and abandon our dream. It is important we remind ourselves constantly that we cannot make our dream come true without confronting and overcoming myriads of challenges on our way.
It is our reluctance to confront the challenges on our way that is making us to abandon our dreams. To achieve our dream, we must make up our mind today that we will not abandon our dream until we achieve it.
5.   Pursue Your  Dream
Dreams don’t come true by merely holding unto them. We have to get up each day and do something however little to keep moving towards the realization of our dream.
And as you apply the lessons contained in this article, it is my hope that you will soon get from where you are to where you want to be

Partnership that Works: Success Secret of the Ages

I got inspired to write this article on January 4, 2012 while I was reading Success Digest!, a Nigerian wealth empoerment newspaper. Just then, I came across the business name, “LORD AND TAYLOR DEPARTMENT STORE.”
Instantly, my mind raced back to over two decades ago when a young pastor I used to attend his church shared with us the success secret of a man who established his business and traded under the name and style of “LORD AND TAYLOR DEPARTMENT STORE.”
It then occurred to me that the “LORD AND TAYLOR DEPARTMENT STORE” which I read about in the business newspaper is the very “LORD AND TAYLOR DEPARTMENT STORE” that the preacher talked about decades ago.
I want to believe that coming across “LORD AND TAYLOR DEPARTMENT STORE” in the business newspaper is not just a coincidence but also an opportunity to share with you on my blog another principle of success, prosperity and victorious living.
According to the preacher, the business, “LORD AND TAYLOR DEPARTMENT STORE” was established by a man called Taylor. Before Taylor set up his business, he went into serious prayer, asking God to be his partner in the business.
Taylor desired to prosper and said the only way he could prosper was to run a partnership with God. He then told God that as a consequence of the partnership, he would register his business name as “LORD AND TAYLOR DEPARTMENT STORE.”
Lord (Almighty God) would be the senior partner while himself (Taylor) would be the junior partner.
Taylor registered the business name as “LORD AND TAYLOR DEPARTMENT STORE.” Thereafter, he started going round informing people about his business, “LORD AND TAYLOR DEPARTMENT STORE.” Anywhere he went, it was “LORD AND TAYLOR DEPARTMENT STORE.” In his adverts, on the business card, on letter headed paper, etc, it was “LORD AND TAYLOR DEPARTMENT STORE.”
He set up the partnership, ran it in line with the agreement he made with God, his senior partner, and God prospered the business. The fact that “LORD AND TAYLOR DEPARTMENT STORE” is still a going concern and waxing stronger and stronger, bear testimony to the fact that Taylor’s idea of striking a partnership with God is a wise decision.
Running a partnership business with God is one of the prosperity secrets of the ages. Just as it worked for people down the ages, it will work and continue to work for as many as will apply the principle. The procedure for striking a partnership with God and running a successful business is as follows:
1.   Get God Involved
Two heads, they say, are  better than one, and when God is involved in a partnership business, there is no Jupiter that can make the business to fail. Partnership deal is an age-old success principle and a serious deal that should be taken seriously.
We have read of God’s covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. We also read in the Bible how Jacob made a vow to God that if God would be with Him, prosper him, protect him and bring him back to his father’s house, he would serve God and give to God one-tenth of all things that God gave to him.
God protected and prospered Jacob and brought him back to his father’s house. Jacob also fulfilled his vow. This is partnership that works! WHEN YOU HAVE THE CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE AS YOUR BUSINESS PARTNER, YOUR COMPLETELY SURE THAT YOUR BUSINESS WILL FLOURISH. AND THERE IS NO PRINCIPALITY OR POWER THAT CAN DESTROY THE BUSINESS.
Unless one is doing an unlawful business (which is not advisable at all), I see no reason why one should not ask God to be involved in one’s business as Taylor and many Bible heroes did.
You may not register God’s name with your business name as Taylor did, but the important thing is that you should ask God to partner with you in your business and you should be ready to fulfill your own part of the agreement.
2.   Prepare an Agreement
In any partnership, there must be an agreement. The agreement usually contains the rights and obligations of partners, terms as to how profit and liability should be shared, how the business is to be managed, etc.
Agreements are usually BINDING and enforceable on the partners involved. Taylor had a binding partnership agreement with God. Jacob and some Bible heroes also had binding agreement (covenant) with God.
Getting God involved in your business, profession, occupation or vocation involves an agreement – oral or written agreement. On God’s part, you would want God to prosper and protect the business. On your part, what would you do for God? Jacob’s part of the agreement he made with God was that he would serve God and give one-tenth of all that he had to God.
Think of the part you will play in the agreement. This is an issue you must decide yourself. No one can decide that for you.
3.   Keep to the Agreement
This is the most important aspect of the partnership deal. For a partnership business to thrive, parties involved must keep to the agreement. On God’s part, He remains ever faithful and will keep His agreement. Where the problem lies is with us.
When you enter into partnership agreement with God, will you keep to the agreement or will you breach it? Taylor kept his own part of the agreement and God prospered him. Agreement with God must be taken seriously.
This is why King Solomon, the wisest man that ever lived said that it is better you don’t make a vow at all than to make a vow and fail to fulfill the vow.
And finally, dear reader, the principle of partnering with God is an age-old success principle that never fails. The man, R.G. LeTorneau attributed his ability to make millions to his “partnership with God.”
The prosperity secret of the ages has been delivered to you today. Are you ready to invite God to partner with you in your business? As you plan and run your business with God, and play your own part in the agreement, the ever faithful God, the God that cannot lie, will prosper your business beyond your imagination!
