Your Dream Can Come True (concluding part)

Carry Your Dream with You

Dreams are not meant to be abandoned; they are meant to be actualized. People who achieve great success in life are those who carry their dream with them through thick and thin.

Since age 10, when Obama started nursing the ambition to become US president, he carried the ambition with him in his mind. In the midst of the prevailing myth about white supremacy, in the midst of destiny killers who kept doing all they could to kill his dream, he carried his dream with him.

Dear reader, are you contemplating abandoning your dream because some people told you that you cannot achieve it? Never abandon your dream because of discouragement. As far as your dream is concerned, it is only your opinion about your dream and not someone else’ that is important.

Do you believe you can achieve your dream? If you do, then, don’t pay attention to contrary opinion of others. Don’t accept anything they say that is contrary to your belief about your dream.

There is this preacher who went out everywhere preaching and teaching prosperity as part and parcel of the Gospel of Christ. But his country people didn’t take him seriously because they didn’t see any sign of prosperity in him. To them, he ought not to preach prosperity at all. They therefore tried all they could to stop him, but they could not.

It is very difficult to stop a man that is sure and fully convinced of what he is doing. To cut the story short, this preacher became one of the richest persons in the US. I am sure you have heard of him. He is Kenneth Copeland. Copeland has jets that he uses in his evangelical work.

Dear reader, your dream may look impossible to achieve now. Like vision, dream is intangible and so may look unrealistic now. This may make you look like a fool now, but if you carry your dream with you and you stay on to the end, it will become real to all and sundry that EVERY DREAM CAN COME TRUE IF WE CARRY THE DREAM WITH US TO THE END.

1.   Work to Fulfil Your Dream

A soccer player wishing to become an international soccer super star does not sit down waiting to be proclaimed as one. He gets to the soccer pitch and train morning and evening. He works towards fulfilling his dream.

Dream doesn’t come to pass on its own. The dreamer has his part to play to make his dream come true. Remember that Obama did not sit down waiting to be proclaimed American president. He worked his way to get to the presidency. The point is this: IF YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE ANYTHING IN LIFE, YOU MUST BE READY TO WORK FOR IT. Don’t wait for someone to get you to where you want to go. In fact, when you are about starting, people will not buy into your dream and so would not support you.

One great lesson you should imbibe here is that IF IT IS GOING TO BE, IT IS UP TO YOU. IF YOUR DREAM IS GOING TO COME TRUE, IT IS UP TO YOU. Don’t completely place your responsibility on any person hoping that he will do it for you. If you do, you may be disappointed. Even if the person has the power to help you, some circumstances can occur that may hinder him from helping you.

For this reason, it is important that you take your dream into your hands. You must start taking steps that will bring you nearer to the fulfillment of your dream. IT IS NOT THAT YOUR DREAM WILL NOT COME TO PASS; IT IS JUST THAT YOU HAVE TO WORK TO BRING IT COME TRUE. It is just that you have to keep moving nearer to realizing your dream by doing something, no matter how little every day.

Every little step you take is relevant. Provided you don’t remain at one spot, you are making progress. Every step you take that moves you forward is a step in the right direction EVERY DAY, YOUR FOCUS SHOULD BE ON STEPS YOU CAN TAKE TO KEEP MOVING CLOSER TO THE FULFILLMENT OF YOUR DREAM.

The Book of Success, the Bible says: “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might.” (Eccl. 9:10). Today, make up your mind that never a day passes by without you doing something, however little, to bring you closer to the fulfillment of your dream.

2.   Believe You Can

Belief is the foundation for the fulfillment of every dream. If your dream must come true, you must believe in your dream and you must also believe that you have what it takes to accomplish your dream.

The “can do spirit” in Obama made him to excel, not only as a student and lecturer but also, as a politician. The slogan, “Yes, we can”, which was used by Obama’s campaign team vividly describes the positive lifestyle of Obama which enabled him to fulfil his dream.

Others may not believe in your dream, but you must believe in your dream and hold tenaciously to it. Many did not believe that Obama would be elected US president. These people might have come to him with the prediction that he would never win the election and so should not contest. But imbued with strong belief in his dream, he stepped out courageously to contest in the election and he won the election!

For these doubting Thomases, and indeed for all of us, the victory of Obama in the US presidential election is a big lesson. It is a lesson that we live in the world of possibilities and that ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE ANY DAY, ANYWHERE, ANYTIME.

OBAMA’S VICTORY IS A LESSON THAT YOU CAN SUCCEED WHEN NO ONE BELIEVES IN YOU. IT IS A LESSON THAT YOU CAN BREAK RECORDS THAT ARE YET TO BE BROKEN AND THAT YOU CAN REACH HEIGHT THAT PEOPLE THINK IS UNREACHABLE.

Dear friend, the only thing that will limit you and truncate your dream is your negative belief. NEVER ANCHOR YOUR DREAM ON IMPOSSIBILITY; ANCHOR IT ON POSSIBILITY. The fact that your dream look impossible to achieve does not mean it is impossible to achieve. The fulfillment of your dream lies in your belief system.

This is why you must constantly train your mind to believe that “Yes, you can.” When God plants a dream in you, it is because He believes you can achieve it. IF GOD WHO CREATED YOU BELIEVES THAT YOU CAN ACHIEVE THE DREAM HE GIVES TO YOU, WHY KILL YOUR DREAM WITH YOUR DOUBT AND UNBELIEF?

Conclusion

The things you must do to strengthen your faith in your dream are:

  • Never expect everybody to believe in your dream.

  • Ignore every negative opinion of people. The purpose of negative opinion is to kill your dream. NEVER succumb to negative opinion. NEVER attach importance to the opinion of any person that says your dream is impossible to achieve.

  • Adopt the slogan, “Yes, I can” and repeat it constantly to yourself.

  • Carry your dream with you through thick and thin. Never abandon your dream because of discouragement.

  • Work to fulfil your dream. Never sit down and fold your arms waiting for your dream to come to pass. You must work to make your dream a reality. Every day, do something, however little, to move you closer to your destiny.

And finally, note this: “EVERY VISION SPEAKS AT THE END. YOU MAY LOOK LIKE A FOOL AT THE BEGINNING. BUT AS YOU STAY ON TO THE END, YOU WILL END UP VICTORIOUS!”
