Jabulani!

A merry Christmas and a happy New Year to all inhabitants of this terrestrial ball. As the Zulus of South Africa used to say, Jabulani!

What is “Jabulani”? The word “jabulani” brings to mind the memory of the 2010 FIFA World Cuphosted by South Africa. In this biggest tournament in the world, the 2010 edition of it came with unparalleled glamour, excitement, entertainment and celebration because it was the first time it was hosted by an African country. It is equally worthy of note that the football used in the said tournament was unique in quality, glamour and design, and named “Jabulani.” “Jabulani” is a Zulu word which means “Rejoice” or “Celebration.”

The 2010 FIFA World Cup and indeed all editions of the FIFA World Cup were much more celebrated than any other sports fiesta in the world. But as much celebrated as the FIFA World Cup is, the Jabulani of FIFA World Cup in nothing close to the Jabulani of Christmas. The jabulani of Christmas is anchored on Jesus who says “I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10).

The jabulani of Christmas is here. It is your day of jubilee, your day of grace. Jesus has come to change your slavery status to the status of sonship. Believe Him and He will give you the grace to walk in victory – now and always!
