How to Cultivate Faith for Greater Impact

To make greater impact in your generation, you must cultivate faith for accomplishing the impossible. One of the reasons we are not accomplishing more in life is that we only exercise faith in achieving the little goals we set for ourselves.

We don’t set big goals because we are afraid we may not achieve them. We exercise faith for achieving little things but when it comes to accomplishment of bigger goals, we chicken out.

 

If you want to achieve great success in life, you must cultivate faith for achieving the impossible. To cultivate faith for achieving the impossible, you must take the following steps:

1.   Operate in the Realm of Possibility

In the realm of possibility, everything is possible. What it takes to operate in the realm of possibility is faith. The Bible says: “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

Walking by faith makes us to see everything as possible. From time immemorial, God’s desire for us is that we should walk by faith, but instead of walking by faith, what we do most is walk by sight. We allow what we see, imagine and think to determine the height we can reach in life.

When we walk by sight, what we see constantly are failure, defeat, mediocrity, underachievement, etc. Operating in the realm of possibility requires the exercise of faith. It requires deliberate refusal to focus on impossibilities. A man who operates in the realm of possibilities believes that with God all things are possible. He believes he can achieve any goal he sets for himself. He believes that there is no opposition, obstacle, hindrance or adversity that can stop him from accomplishing greater impact in his generation.

When you operate in the realm of possibility, you will achieve those things which others conclude are impossible. You can’t operate in the realm of possibility and remain where you are. Walking by faith keeps you on the move. You move from one level to the other. You are never stagnant. You are always making progress. Learn to walk by faith day by day and you will keep making greater impact in your generation.

2.   Pray for the Impossible

To activate faith for greater impact, you must ask God for the impossible. You must ask God to do great things for you, through you and for humanity. The reason we are not making bigger impact in our generation is that we are not praying for bigger things. If we are asking God for bigger things, I believe He will grant us what we ask of Him. You cannot make greater impact in your generation if what you are asking God is your daily subsistence. 

Those who make bigger impact in their generation are people who cultivate big faith for big exploits. With zeal, passion and love for God, Elijah withheld the rain for three and one-half years and called fire from heaven to devour his sacrifice on the altar of God. Elisha, the servant of Elijah, after asking for double portion of Elijah’s spirit, did greater exploits than Elijah.

Peter did greater exploit because he was never afraid of taking giant steps of faith. He remains the disciples of Jesus that walked on water because he wasn’t afraid of asking Jesus to bid him walk on water to meet Him.

Paul laboured more than all the apostles of Jesus, took greater risks and achieved much more for God’s kingdom because he always yearned to evangelise the world.

Dear friend, what are those things you are praying to God for? Are they little things or big things? Check your prayer points. They confirm the size of the impact you will make in life. To make greater impact in your generation, your prayer points must contain seemingly impossible things you want God to do for you, through you and for humanity.

What are those goals you want to achieve which look impossible for you? Get them listed in your prayer list. Pray over them, not once or a few times, but constantly. Pull away from the school of thought that says you should not keep praying and repeating your prayers. This school of thought will make you a lazy, powerless and defeated Christian.

Instead, get enlisted in the school of thought which emphasizes that you ought to pray and not to faint. So, those seemingly impossible goals you want to achieve should become your prayer points which you pray about constantly until you achieve them.

Those who make bigger impact in their generation are not afraid of asking God for the impossible. “O Lord, give me Scotland or I die,” prayed a famous UK preacher many years ago. God answered his prayers and used him mightily to do great exploits not only in Scotland but in Europe and the world. Your duty is to pray for the impossible and God’s duty is to do the impossible.

• Operate in the realm of possibility. 
• Ask God to do the impossible for you, through you and for humanity
