The
failure of today does not determine your success tomorrow. Regardless of the
unpleasant situation at the moment, there is victory for you if you can keep
looking unto God. Joseph’s enemies (brothers) sold him as a slave, thinking
that once a slave, he would never rise to become greater than them.
Humanly
speaking, a slave cannot rise to the status of sonship, not even to talk of
becoming a successful personality. Humanly speaking, Joseph’s enemies put him
in a position that he could never get out. Humanly speaking, there is no wisdom
that could set Joseph free. Every door was shut against him.
“Now,
let us see how his dream will come true,” said his brothers-turned enemies.
Despite
all their efforts to ensure that Joseph never succeed in life, they failed
woefully. They still come and bowed down to him. This is what they had fought
tooth and nail to prevent from happening!
If
anybody told Joseph’s brothers that they would bow down to Joseph in the end,
they would disbelieve it, because to the best of their knowledge and wisdom,
they have sealed Joseph’s hope.
This
is why I continue to hold unto the belief that your destiny is not in the hand
of any person, but in the hands of God.
What the success
story of Joseph has taught me is that no matter your present condition, when
God is set to bless you, he will lift you up in a jiffy! It will be like a
dream to you and to any one!
This
is why you must stop believing that your enemies can destroy your destiny. You
destiny is not in the hand of your enemies. If Joseph’s enemies knew that by
selling him as a slave they would end up bowing down to him, they would not
have sold him.
This
is what we are saying. There is no counsel against God that can stand. There is
no wisdom of man that can affect God’s plan for your life. When God is set to
bless you, He will lift you up beyond every human imagination!
When
God is set to bless you, He will make all things – the good, the bad and the
ugly – to work for your good. For this reason, you should stop blaming
everybody for your failure. Accept the fact that you have failed. Whether it is
someone that causes your failure or not, failure is failure.
What
you need to do when you fail is to sit down and assess your effort. Have you
given it the best that you can? If you haven’t, sit up and prepare for a great
come-back. If you have given it the best you can, then, celebrate the fact that
you overcame that fear of venturing out to try.
Celebrate
the fact that though you failed, you can still try again. Celebrate the fact
that failure is not final. Celebrate the fact that you even summon up the
courage to pursue your heart’s desire. Celebrate the fact that as you connect
with God, God will fulfill His master plan for your life.
Celebrate
the fact that if you submit to God, your enemies will submit to you. Celebrate
the fact that when God is set to bless you, He will raise you up from any pit
you find yourself. Celebrate the fact that God is set to make all things including
– the good, the bad and the ugly – to work for your good.
This
is also the lesson we can learn from the battle of the Alamo. The conquistadors
forced the 187 Texan rebels to retreat to the Alamo. For 12 days, they engaged them
in a bloody shootout! The rebels held their ground until they finally fell to
the superior fire power of the conquistadors. And the Texans mourned their
defeat? Not at all!
How
could they mourn their defeat when they were fighting a pure and just cause?
How could they mourn when they knew that if they were not ready to fight for
their freedom, they were not worthy to live?
Hey!
Dear friend, who tell you that if you have tried your best and failed, you are
a failure? Who tells you that the best thing to do when you fail is to bury
your head in shame?
Why
is the Alamo a world tourist centre today, yielding millions of dollars to
Texas annually? It is because the Texans have chosen to celebrate their
failure.
They
failed woefully in the battle, but for thousands or millions of years to come,
the world will continue to remember those freedom fighters and their gallant
efforts.
That
the Texans later regained their freedom is a pointer to the fact that the
battle at the Alamo is not in vain at all.
THE
LESSON OF THE ALAMO IS THAT WHEN YOU HAVE DONE THE BEST YOU CAN AND YOU STILL
DON’T WIN, THE WORLD WILL STILL CELEBRATE YOU AS A HERO. TO BE CELEBRATED, YOU
MUST GIVE THE BEST YOU CAN. DON’T EXPECT TO BE ACCORDED RECOGNITION UNTIL YOU
HAVE TRIED YOUR BEST. The world is the arbiter. When you have given your best,
the world will take note of it and accord you the recognition you deserve!
Is
failure or defeat dogging your footsteps? Then, celebrate and keep celebrating
your failure. “Double your rate of failure.” Don’t quit. Just hang in there and
fight. In the end, the world will remember you for your effort.
Until
I come your way soon, I urge you to give the best you can. The world will
celebrate you now and always!
